As a 3x cancer survivor and as someone who has buried her entire family, I have never asked Why me?. My mom always reminded me that bad things happen to everyone. You don’t have to build a monument to them. She taught me to acknowledge what happens, learn from it, get stronger and move on. No victim mentality. No self-pity. She was incredibly wise.

To quote the wise and deep philosophy of Frozen, “Let it go, let it go.” Experience is a very hard teacher, sometimes. But, it can also be the very best teacher……if we let it. Yes, rough times will come. But, in them, we should, as you rightfully point out, look for what we’re supposed to learn from them, to make us better in the future and better for others, as leaders.
